Lanaconing Mill
This is a photographic
contemplation of the
end of a way of life in a
western Maryland mill town.
The mill was closed in July 1957.
The mill mamagement simply
shut down the machinery
leaving behind everything as
it stood the moment they
closed and locked the doors.
Even as the building continues
to fall into disrepair with leaking
roofs and broken windows,it remains an silent iconic legacy of a bygone era of American industry.
